The National Theatre of Ireland will celebrate 120 years with Spreading The News, a special live event taking place on the Abbey Stage at 6pm this Sunday 8th December.
Named after the play of the same name, written by Abbey Theatre co-founder Lady Gregory, and performed on the opening night of the theatre, Spreading The News will feature a company of well-known Irish artists who have performed on the Abbey stage over the years.

Performers on the night will include Barbara Bergin, Peter Coonan, Kate Gilmore, Domhnall Herdman, Patrick Martins, Seán McGinley, Bríd Ní Neachtain, Stephen Rea, Kate Stanley Brennan, Sexy Tadhg and Eileen Walsh
Accompanied by live music, Spreading The News will showcase the stories, work and performances that have been at the heart of the National Theatre of Ireland since its foundation; featured writers include Marina Carr, Brian Friel, Lady Gregory, Tom Murphy, Anna Mullarkey, Frank McGuinness, Conor McPherson, Nuala Ní Dhomhnail, Sean O'Casey, JM Synge, W.B. Yeats and Enda Walsh.
